Science for peace

Oct 05,2017 - Last updated at Oct 05,2017

It is heartening to learn from a news report published in The Jordan Times (October 2, 2017) that Princess Sumaya has been made UNESCO special envoy for science for peace (2017-2019).

This appointment has been given to the Princess in recognition for her contribution and commitment to promoting science for peaceful application to bring peace and development in societies.

While sincerely congratulating Princess Sumaya, one hopes she will work hard in her capacity as the UNESCO envoy to establish science as a means for peace and development in the world, putting special emphasis on eliminating confusions about climate change science.

YES I DO AGREE WITH THIS ARTICLE BUT I AM AFRAID TO STATE THAT IF YOU PLOT THE GRAPH OF THE QUNTITATIVE RANKING OF SCIENCE AGAINST THAT OF PEACE, YOU GET A NEGATIVE SLOPE. CASE #1, THE DEVELOPEMENT OF NUKE AND PEACE, #2 THE OUR CURRENT TECHNOLOGICAL AGE VS REFUGEESS CRISIS, OCCUPATION, EXPULSION, HUMAN RIGHT ABUSES AND SO ON, YOU WILL ALSO GET A NEGATIVE SLOPE. I HAVE AND WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE BEST VIEWS OF HER ROYAL HIGHNESS AND IN FACT HAPPY THAT SHE WAS APPOINTED TO THIS POSITION BUT WHEN YOU ASK THE AVERAVE CITIZEN IN THE STREET ABOUT THIS APPOINTMENT, YOU WILL GET A DIFFERENT ANSWER THAT REFLECT TO " WHO ELSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN APPOINTED. " THE USE OF SCIENCE AS AN INSTRUMENT OF PEACE SHOULD THEREFORE BE HEADED BY AN UNUSUAL APPOINTMENT FROM A POOR SAMPLE OF THE AVERAGE POPULATION.
